Fear

Fear is nothing more than an obstacle that stands in the way of progress. In overcoming our fears, we can move forward, stronger and wiser within ourselves.

What choices are you making today? Are you sometimes paralyzed by fear of making the wrong choice? I know I am. Are you overwhelmed by the number of choices that you have to make each day? I often feel that way.
In my quest for personal self development, I ran across a TED Talks video by Tim Ferriss that spoke to me. Tim suffers from bipolar disorder which I've dealt with a lot in my family. I often find myself helping others deal with their fears before they can reach their goals. Yet we always start with the goal first and work backwards.

Tim recommends that instead of focusing on our goals and pushing our fears down or ignoring them, that we address them first. If we define our worst case scenarios, and break them into manageable parts, then we can take actions to help prevent any obstacles from us reaching our goals. This is a brilliant strategy for folks like me who are worry warts. It negates all those what ifs, by actually analyzing them and focusing on solutions that help alleviate those fears.

After watching Tim's video I was left with the question, okay now what? How do I go about this? Well of course the universe heard me and answered this morning. While listening to a national conference call with Jim Bunch of Powur, this exact TED Talks by Tim Ferris was referenced. Jim elaborated, giving me a formulated system that I can use to compartmentalise, dissect and neutralise my fears. I won't go into detail here about the process but it's brilliant for me.

I intend to use this strategy to help me overcome several self-defeating fears in the next few weeks. If you'd like to hear about my progress, or even join me on this journey, I will be happy to let you know how it goes or support you in doing the same. Just comment below or message me personally.
